Toad

Mortimer Toynbee's childhood and early adult life are fraught with neglect and ridicule. He was abandoned by his parents when he was so young that he can't remember anything about them. He was placed in an orphanage, but was isolated from the other children by his ugliness, unusual physique, and jumping ability. His loneliness affected his learning abilities so greatly that it caused the teachers to misdiagnose him as mentally retarded. Mortimer's longing for attention and acceptance caused him to join the Brotherhood of Mutants when Magneto offered him a spot.

Toad's unusally flexible spin allows him to move quickly and unexpectedly during combat. His jumping makes the assault on an enemy's senses even more potent. He augments his agility and jumping with a noxious, sticky spit that can hurt enemies, and a long prehensile tongue that can hit people, grap and hold items, and trip enemies.
