Forbidden Love

By David Dunatov

One of the most interesting questions when asked is, “Is there such a thing as forbidden love?”  There are many simple minded folk who would answer, “Of course not, you meat your gal and you marry her.”  Many idealists think yes, there could be.  The love that god didn’t plan on sparking, but has no intention of allowing.  What do I think?  What am I suppose to think….  There is no right or wrong, there are just situations.  You don’t live based on your gut feeling, you are programmed by society to love what you love and despise what you despise.  Many situations come up that even the strongest loves that not even god himself can destroy, deteriorate…  For what reason is unknown.  What is forbidden love?  You decide…

It never starts as a though, but by a look, a certain connection between two that can only be sensed by the heart.  Of course if one of those hearts is too numb with greed and hate, not feeling will over come the person and all life will continue as usual.  But it is the selected few we are worried about that keeps us in awe.

As Cloud looked boldly into the horizon, he spoke out orders.

“Ahead of us lay the City of Ancients.  We will stay alert; Sephiroth definitely has planned this one out.”

“Gee, I hope Aeris is alright, she shouldn’t have done this all by herself.”

“No Tifa, she knows what she is about to do, the only thing that scares me is the sacrifices she is willing to make…”

They quietly rounded up the troops for the crusade.  One thing was set on Clouds mind, Aeris will return home safe.  As it may show in the story, Cloud had an unconditional love for Aeris.  Tifa, although sensing this love, chose to ignore it.  She had different plans…

It seemed like an eternities hike through the forests and the mountains.  No matter what he faced, Cloud was ready.  The cold look he had in his eyes ensured a quick and clean death for all who oppose him.

“Charge up men, we are entering the City Of Ancients, we can expect nothing but danger from this point on.”

Barret go out his bullet backpack, a ratty looking thing, and reloaded his arm.  Tifa stretched, even though she knew it would do her no good.  The rest were silent, fearing that this maybe the last battle that they face.

Cloud then gave the order and there was their last move-out.

As they approached the city, each of them gave a silent prayer.  They felt very scared, but they knew god was on their side.  They pressed on efficiently and approached the supposed gateway to the city.

This gateway was not of the ones described in The Wizard of Oz, but the ones concealed by magic.  It would take genius to open, pure thought.  But what is this?  It has been opened already?  This proved dangerous and comforting, because surely enough, Aeris must be down there.

Each, single filled, made their way down the clear and narrow staircase.  One slip would spell out certain death.  They cautiously made their way down, and planned their next move.

“Aeris would not be hidden; she has nothing to hide from.  She must be somewhere in the surroundings.  We will split up and search, any trouble, just whistles…”

With a quick nod they were all off, slowly into the mists of the abandoned city which showed past superiority.  Crafts that would have took artists centuries lay in the streets, many ruptured, but many still intact.  They were all on their toes; they knew trouble would lurk around any corner.

With a cry of relief Cloud shouted to the others.  “I have found her, she is over here!”

They all scrambled to the scene to see the serene Aeris, praying.  A distilled sense filled the air.  They felt that they shouldn’t go further, but they would never leave her here.  Cloud took the first leap of the many till he reached the platform in which she prayed she prayed.  He smiled, he loved her.  She was right there, in front of him, and she would soon be in his arms, safe and sound.

Then out of nowhere, though the blackness of the sky leaped Sephiroth with his sword unsheathed.  As he landed to complete what was destined to be completed, it happened.  With a twist of faith Aeris looked up.  Her eyes so innocent, resembling the very sea which Sephiroth greatly admired.  He hesitated, missed, and hit the ground.  Cloud paralyzed by the confusion, looking on.  Sephiroth eyes then focused, he caught the eyes of Aeris again, and he was petrified.  New feeling erupted into his body.  His cold heart has melted.  A twist of fait?  Or something more…

Cloud regaining his consciousness drew his sword and leaped.  Sephiroth, with his already draw countered the attack with a critical blow to the stomach with the blunt of his sword.  Recuperating Cloud put all the energy into one blow which was reflected and countered in the same way.  Cloud fell to the ground.  Dead.

Following the collapse attacked his comrades, one by one resulting in the same, empty fait.  And there looked Aeris.  She then stood, walked over to Sephiroth, and against all what was made to be, kissed him.  Her tender lips massaged his in an indescribable motion.  Sephiroth, followed along, for this love has never hit him before.  But in him stood evil.  This is the factor that destroys the unique equation.  With the end of the kiss, Sephiroth gently raised his sword, and slit her neck.

Rarely does any forbidden love survive.  What is not meant to be, will not be, and what has happened that signifies what shouldn’t be, would be covered, and masked, by the evil’s that envelope them.  The power that the love has will control you, then destroy you.

With this tale I ask you.  Do you believe in forbidden love?  Do you believe that in the twist of fait, you can do the impossible?  Like I stated in the beginning, my opinion doesn’t matter, it is all of those who the love might form to that it does.
